When I paint, it's like making love with colors. To make love, you must be happy; this is what I need to paint. If sadness or bad news comes my way, I pause from painting, sometimes for several months.
When I paint, everything must be arranged around me -- my desk, my shelves, etc. I have to create serentity in the studio to thwart distraction and give myself wholly to my work.
It is difficult for me to part with a painting because I grow attached to what I create. Sometimes I visit the owners of my work to look at what I've made.
